EyeSpy Security is leading-edge technology company specializing in high value asset tracking. They are based out of Sidney, BC, Canada and are affiliated with local custom design jewellery store, Jaylyn Jewellers. EyeSpy Security sought out Steven Reilander Productions to produce a promotional video showing the usage and practical application of their gps technology and online tracking portal. Over a few concept-design meetings EyeSpy Security and Steven Reilander Productions agreed on producing 3 separate videos showing the various situations and people the product was designed in mind for.   

“The Store Robbery” concept was the first of the three produced for EyeSpy Security. Just over 10 years ago Jaylyn Jewellers was the victim of armed robbery in the exact same way as this video dramatization. These types of crimes are a common occurrence within the jewellery industry, and Jaylyn jewellers had many colleagues whom were also victimized. There needed to be a solution where jewellers and salesmen could showcase valuable material without the fear of personal injury or death during a robbery. The bait tracking system is the solution. The concept: A jeweller, having just been robbed, has already embedded GPS tracking devices into showcase pieces. Once the robbers have stollen the jewellery and left the store from which the items were stolen, the jeweller then logs onto the tracking portal on the EyeSpy website to track the exact location and path of the jewellery and robbers.

The video follows the robbery and tracking process from the moments leading up to the robbery to the time the police would be in pursuit of the stolen goods.  The editing technique simply intends to stylize and intensify the scenario, but also to shorten the sequence of events.  The real robbery scenario lasted several minutes and the video lasts less then two.  After several drafts of the final edit, the President and CEO of EyeSpy Security was pleased with the final result and uses it as a primary visual promo for trade show presentations and website advertisement.
