Craig Smart is an international platinum selling recording artist, known in Canada for his hit song “123”. Based out of Vancouver BC, Craig travels the world recording and performing his dynamic pop tracks. This year Craig signed with Sony music.
“Invincible” was distributed by Maple Music and was filmed for video release in February of 2013 by Steven Reilander Productions. On a typical day in February, Victoria, BC is locked in with clouds and rain. Fortunately, the day of production was sunny and warm, it could have passed for June.
The schedule was limited to one day of filming. We started early and filmed all the way through sunset. The day was fast paced with very little setup in each location. All the shots were done using natural light, a bounce board, and a Canon 5D Mark III. Those small cameras are a lot of fun to film with and provide an impressive quality for the size.
The producers intended the video to premiere on VH1 India in coordination with a large-scale tour with Craig Smart. Eric Mazimpaka, a talented writer/actor/director and a personal friend of Steven’s, originally brought him onto the production as Director of Photography. Soon after the production wrapped, Steven Reilander Productions was hired for the video’s post-production. Eric and Steven cut a visually dynamic video, in line with industry standards. Unfortunately, problems arose with project members and the official release of the video was delayed, Steven decided to follow through on his commitment to complete what he started and finished the music video, demonstrating his passion and dedication to his work.
